Vintage Ad (1942): Bond Street
Readers of this blog should well be familiar with creepy vintage Bond Street ads. We have seen bears, bulls, stalkers, werewolves, weird uncles, man-goats and goat-men, and the father of them all, the evil mastermind (a.k.a. The Creepy Bond Street Guy). I think we can safely say that this is the least creepy of them all. with Lucy about to bring the glowing hammer of doom down on Ricky Ricardo's smelly pipe.

Vintage Ad: Bond Street (date unknown)
Another creepy vintage ad from Bond Street. Date unknown, but probably from the 1940s like all the other such ads I have seen. This one depicts what I imagine is a scene from an obscure failed television pilot called "Uncle Rufus is a Pipe-Smoking Bear."

Vintage Ad: Bond Street (1944)
Another weird Bond Street ad featuring a pipe-smoking animal and a terrible pun. The little woman appears to me be contemplating which would be worse in her home: the smell of a pipe or any of the other possible smells that a Hereford bull can produce at whim.

Vintage Ad: Bond Street, 1941
And here have yet another entry in our creepy Bond Street guy ads. Someone is missing, and someone is wanted. I'm not sure who is who, but I don't trust the guy with pipe who apparently goes around whiffing wives.

Vintage Ad (1942): Bond Street
Here we have a man enjoying his pipe, only to be accosted by what I assume is a rabid werewolf. Knowing that his life is about to end, the man cranes his head backward, exposing his throat in the vain hope that it will bring about his death as swiftly and painlessly as possible.
Bond Street does it again.

Vintage Ad (1946): Bond Street/Revelation
I have a sub-sub-hobby. Main hobby: pipe smoking. Sub-hobby: vintage pipe ads. Sub-sub-hobby: vintage ads featuring creepy Bond Street guys.
Bond Street seemed to have a knack for disturbing imagery in their ads. This guy isn't nearly as creepy as the official Creepy Bond Street Guy, but it's still pretty creepy.

Vintage Ad (undated): Bond Street - "WHY BE THE GOAT"
I snagged this one from somewhere on ye olde internets, but no date was recorded. I'd say probably 40s or early 50s maybe. Anyway, that laughing guy 0n the right must have one of the most horrifying facial expressions I've ever seen.
That photo is ripe for re-captioning.

Vintage Ad (1945): Bond Street/Revelation
A closely-cropped ad that I snagged from eBay several years ago and have had it floating around in various folders on at least three different computers ever since, and generating disturbing dream imagery every now and then. I call this "The Creepy Bond Street Guy" and this is one of my favorite vintage ads. I wish I had splurged and bought the hardcopy. Philip Morris, the epitome of evil now that Hitler is dead, once used this illustration of an evil super-villian apparently contemplating world domination to sell pipe tobacco.
